Competitions

Collie and the Wellington Dam region in Western Australia have become popular destinations for mountain biking events, thanks to their extensive trail networks and scenic landscapes. Featuring purpose-built trails like those in the Arklow and Wellington National Park trail networks, they offer a mix of cross-country, downhill, and enduro routes.

Events held here throughout the year include:

The Wellington Dam, known for its massive mural, adds a unique backdrop to the experience, while local facilities and trail infrastructure continue to grow, supporting the region’s reputation as a top MTB destination.

Collie Adventure Race

Organised and run by the Collie Rotary Club

The Collie Adventure Race is a multi-discipline endurance event held annually in Collie. Designed to showcase the region’s natural beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities, the race includes a combination of mountain biking, trail running, kayaking, and swimming. Participants can compete individually or as part of a team, with each leg of the race highlighting different parts of Collie’s diverse landscape—from forested trails and riverbanks to scenic roads and rugged bushland. The event attracts both seasoned athletes and enthusiastic amateurs, offering a challenging yet accessible experience

Perth Trail Series

Perth Trail Series is one of Australia’s top trail running event organisers. They run two events in the Collie Region during the year.

A multi-day, series of running events held amongst the picturesque Arklow trail network. The events range from social night runs to competitive distance runs.

An event for everyone with 100km SOLO, 50km SOLO and the relay team event where you can hit the trails with 2-5 runners to complete the course, that circumnavigates the Wellington Dam Weir following along the Wiilman Bilya Trail

Ride Collie

The Collie Valley MTB marathon offers riders a challenging and scenic course through native forests, flowing singletrack, and rugged terrain. Designed for both competitive and recreational riders, the event features multiple distance options to suit different skill levels and fitness goals. It is one of the few events in the state that has a specific category for adaptive riders.

Downhill Races

A state downhill race round is held at the Wellington Mills trails network, organised under Peel Districts MTB club.

  • 31st May-1st June - State Round 3: Wellington Mills

WA Gravity Enduro

Officially run under AusCycling by WA Gravity Enduro, the race series focuses on the “Enduro” mountain bike discipline.

  • 20th-21st September - Rider Development Weekend - Collie

  • 01st October - Oceania Championships - Wellington Dam

  • 03rd-05th October - National Championships - Wellington Dam

XCO Races

The cross-country series rounds in the Collie Region have previously been run by Ferguson Valley MTBC, who are always seeking to improve their events and courses.

  • 1st March - State Round 1: Wellington Dam

  • 2nd March - State Round 2: Collie

Munda Biddi Ultra

The longest ultra marathon MTB event in WA, the course runs from Albany to Mundaring, with a short course starting from Collie.

  • 2nd October - 1067km Race, from Albany. Multiple start times for different paces.

  • 10th October - 327km Race, from Collie. Multiple start times for different paces.

Target for competitors to finish in Mundaring on 12th October.

MTB Orienteering National Series

Championship events will be held over three days, spread across many of the Collie MTB networks, with competitors seeking the quickest time through a number of marked points, following any track they can navigate.

  • 5th - 7th September -
